Commented Feature: Sort order for '_' character [1434]

I just installed 1.0.0.51 and tested the option to sort resx file content by key. It seems that the '_' character is incorrectly sorted last when it should be listed first as follows:

<data name="SelectLanguage" xml:space="preserve">
<value>Please select a language.</value>
</data>

ResXManager is handling escaping exactly the same way as the built in resource editor.

If you fully read the articles you have mentioned you will find this:

http://www.w3.org/TR/xml11/#syntax
=> To allow __attribute values__ to contain both single and double quotes, the apostrophe or single-quote character (') __may__ be represented as " &apos; ", and the double-quote character (") as " &quot; ".

About sorting: I will make the sort order configurable in one of the next releases.

Translation quality rank is good feature. Suggestions: (1) it should be present in the Main tab too. (2) the rank and options of drop down should be updated immediately after user leave an input box, instead of after "apply all".

(3) In the above pic, "Any text" appears twice. This is quite common. If user can translate once for all the same terms, it can save some work.

Currently I use the menu "Tools"-"Add local resource" to generate resx files.
Hope the ResX manager integrates this functionality, if it's not a difficult work.

A button to toggle only non-empty lines.
The auto generated resx contains a lot of empty strings but I would not translate them.
This is a non-critical feature, but should be easy to implement.

Clicking on the link to the translator homepage in the translator configuration tab does not do anything in the VS-Extension. In the standalone version it works fine.

What exactly do you want to achieve? And to which entry do you think this is a duplicate?

Comments:

Usually new resx files are empty - I'm not sure how you "auto-generate" them.


 


You can easily sort by the column you are working on, then all empty strings are in one block and you can skip them.

Hi,

first of all, this is a great tool and it already helped us a lot.

We're auto-translating the texts to the different languages, and then send the excel-export to some native speakers to check if it makes sense.

The only thing missing is an optional prefix for the auto-translated texts (e.g. ###), so the guys can see which texts are new. An option to remove the prefix on import would be great as well.
